Project Management Overview
Target Audience
This course is designed for anyone who wants to get a broad overview of the fundamental aspects of managing a project. It is a useful introduction for those who are thinking about attending a more thorough project management course as well as those who work on a project and need to understand more the breadth of project management rather than the depth.
Approach
This is an interactive course where participants are encouraged to learn though a mixture of lectures, exercises and group discussion.
Instructors
All of our instructors have real world experience of working as project managers and are not just ‘training specialists’. Whilst our emphasis is on practical knowledge and skills, all of our instructors are also accredited to teach qualification based courses in project management.
Course Objectives
The aim of this course is to equip participants with a broad understanding of the common areas that need to be addressed within a project environment. - Understand the benefits of managing change through a structured project
- Recognise the characteristics of a project and how projects differ from normal business as usual activities
- Become familiar with project terminology
- Understand the overall project lifecycle from having a controlled start to project closeout and handover
